| It rained the whole day. I was playing grand piano in our music room. Nothing special, just songs that came to my mind. Our songs, someone else's songs...sometimes I improvised. I didn't care, I just played. Kept me away from boringess and let me practise my left hand (of cource I wouldn't have needed to do that but it's not bad thing either). Then Till entered to the room. I stopped playing for a while but he waved his hand to carry on. I continued but I still got my eyes on him. He walked heavily next to window, sat down on the couch and started to staring at the rain. He seemed really depressed. His eyes looked tired and he didn't smile. He just stared at the rain and sighed deeply. It felt really awkward. I don't mind if people come to talk with me when I'm playing (I got used to it) but if they don't say or do anything...I just can't stand it! It's really annoying! Besides if he was in blues like he seemed I don't know what to do in that situation. Comfort him? Talk to him? Or just wait that he would say something? Man, I hate these things! I stopped playing again. I was going to leave him alone because he usually didn't want company when he was down. Then he suddenly started to speak. "Play me something." I was surprised. He had never asked me to do that. "W-what?" He repeated: "Play me something. Please." Of cource he had heard my playing many times but this was something new; he actually wanted to listen it! After first shock I tried to be professional and asked (shyly): "Well, what do you wanna hear?" He shruged his shoulders. "I dunno. Something beautiful." What??? This was also new! A man who makes poems of burning angels 'n stuff wants to hear something beautiful?! Was he sick..? Something beautiful, something beautiful...this was hard. I know many beautiful songs but I didn't know which one would have fitted to this situation. I didn't want to play our or either our colleagues' songs. Not even movie themes. I just stared the piano unhappily. Why these things always happened to me? It took over a minute. I still just stared the piano. Have those keys always looked so big? Why they've been painted black 'n white? Why my heart felt so heavy right now? AND WHY IN HELL WAS I THINKING THESE THINGS ANYWAY?! Then suddenly my fingers started to move across the keys and they played music. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. I hadn't played it for ages but I remebered it perfectly. I closed my eyes and let the music coming throw me. It filled my mind and for a one moment I wasn't in this world. I was far far away, somewhere near ocean; I swear I could smell salt and wet sand. It was so warm. It was so calm! I opened my eyes. I was at a beach who seemed to have no end. Full moon was lighting at the sky and it made a white bridge over the dark water. I saw waves but there was no other sounds than the music I was playing. It was amazing! I felt myself light and happy. No rush, no worries, just me and the magical world with the sweet sonata. I felt like I could fly over the beautiful night sky... Then it was over (too soon, I thought). I played the last note gently and let it echoed a long. I took a look at Till and I saw his eyes were closed. Did he fall asleep? No, he breathed too quickly. Was he at the same place I was? Perhaps. Who knows? I didn't dare to ask... He finally opened his eyes and...wait, was that a smile? He didn't look so depressed anymore. Actually he looked really...relieved. Like all the world's problems had been disapeared from his shoulders. He got up and walked next to me. I looked him straight to his bluegreen eyes. Completely silence... Then he bend and kissed me gently to the forehead. "Thank-you, Flake. Thank-you very much," he whispered softly. Then he walked out from the room and left me alone with the grand piano. The rain just contined. |
